You know how I always say spring is usually a new beginning for me? Emphasis on “usually”… because let’s just say things haven’t gone the way I hoped. Obviously the allergies came and my nose is not enjoying it one bit, I’m sneezing a lot, seemingly more at home for some reason. I should really get tested to see if I’m allergic to anything else, because I am very curious. That’s not really the problem though, it’s something I’ve come to expect every year at this point.
Well, the month didn’t begin too badly I suppose. I got to try this new tea place that opened not too long ago, and I was surprised at how good it actually was, the wait was certainly worth it. They had a gardenia tea of some kind, and it was pretty good, not overly sweet or anything. Just a nice cup of milk tea with a bit of whipped cream on top.
That aside, the month went okay throughout half of it. Work had been annoying as I detailed on my previous post, but that wasn’t enough to hinder me, even if at times it did get somewhat frustrating. The lack of clear instructions and often the fact that they’d tell me things outside of work hours did annoy me to some extent, but I’ve been through that before, so there’s really nothing new there. So after all that, I figured having a week of break might help me feel a bit less tense from it, right? Riiiighht…?
And this is when things truly went south. On the 15th, my mom told me that she and her partner would be breaking up after 7 years of being together. I wasn’t sure how to react to that information, but at the same time, I felt it was a long time coming. I always believed they were a bit too different from one another, complete opposites even. My mom has always been a lot more quiet, her partner is loud and more outgoing. The only reason my mom gave me at the time was that he was rather mean at times, as well as his problems with drugs and alcohol. I also have a hunch that his investments (pricey things like musical instruments and tattoos) might have something to do with it as well. Regardless, it looks like she’s had enough, and good riddance honestly, I also never liked him much for similar reasons. That altercation we once had while he was drunk was enough to break what little trust I had in him. Right now I am worried about the effects of this breakup on the family, but I won’t know for sure until he actually leaves the house. For now I’ll continue to do my things like usual, let’s see how things progress over time.
All of this made the ambiance at home feel very tense during my days off. I wanted to relax and rest for the week, but instead I had to deal with these two and their bullshit. Having to stop them from arguing once, and having this strange tense feeling in the house. Even going out didn’t seem to help me very much, as I still felt stressed knowing something major had happened at home. I would whine at them for not being able to communicate correctly, but I mean, who am I to talk when I’m not any better in that sense. It’s weird to say this, but I was glad to go back to work this week… these situations that you have no control over are usually the worst, more so if you’re indirectly involved in them by the simple fact of living in the same house.
At least things weren’t too bad this week. Helps that my mom is at work practically all day and my brother’s at school, when we’re all together it feels very strange. September is close to wrapping up and I can’t say I enjoyed it, despite my high expectations. October doesn’t look to be any better, but I’ll keep trying my best. I do have a few posts planned, there are a few phones I’m interested in repairing and you might find them interesting. I’m just waiting for the parts to arrive…
See you all in the next post.
