Reflecting – March 2025

Going from February to March, I was expecting this month to be rather stressful. I mean, since everyone’s going back to their usual things, like work or school, and I’d expect things to get more than a little busy. However, and strangely enough, that wasn’t the case at all this time. This month was just plain boring by comparison, barely anything happened, but I’ll try to keep this post interesting if at all possible.

Twenty Five, at last

So, I turned 25 this month. A quarter of a century old… crazy, right? I did celebrate in a few ways, too. On the 1st, I decided to go out with a friend of mine, we hadn’t done so since January pretty much. We had Korean food at this place we had been curious about, so we paid our 10 bucks each and we recieved a nice and big bowl of veggies and meat, mine was a bit on the spice side but it was delicious. Next, we went downtown got ourselves some of our usual tea, and we then took a walk around a park, which was pretty relaxing. Here are some pictures, click on them to enlarge:

Then, she got me a cute little cat figure, of course it’s black just like my actual cat. We then headed back, and on our way there we came across an autistic person who had a bit of a speech impediment. I wasn’t sure how to react, and he also had a sign hanging from his neck, saying to call his mom if he ever got lost. Apparently he wanted to go somewhere, but it seemed like he was taking the wrong bus… so my friend called the number on his sign, and his mom asured her that he was gonna be fine, although letting someone like that roam around on their own seems a bit dangerous. It was a very awkward interaction given that I’m not used to interacting with people like that, so my friend did all the talking. Other than that, it was a very fun and relaxed day.

But of course my birthday couldn’t come without its problems… at around 10pm or so, there was a party next door and they were super loud. So loud that I couldn’t block their noise by closing the window. They continued to party and being loud and annoying for several hours, until 5am in fact. No matter how much I tried to close my eyes, I simply couldn’t fall asleep. Fuck those people… but hey, thankfully for me the actual birthday didn’t go so badly. I had my usual sushi (as tradition demands) and I had a small celebration with my mom and siblings, as well as my cousins. My mom’s ex was (thankfully) not present. I didn’t get a lot of things, just clothes and some socks. Sadly, my grandparents couldn’t come because they just so happened to go on vacation that weekend, which also meant looking after the pets.

Work (or lack thereof) and Life

Work has been extremely light this month, I wasn’t really assigned any new projects, so I’ve been tweaking some things here and there on all the websites that my company hosts. And as ironic as it is to say, costumer support (y’know, the vane of my existence) was perhaps the most interesting thing about it. This is just so odd, it’s rare that I spend this much time doing nothing, besides the occasional minor changes, so instead I’ve been trying to focus more on my personal websites as well. I mean, I gotta keep myself busy somehow, right? I sure hope this doesn’t mean I’ll get fired or anything, which would be weird anyway considering they told me that they wanted to keep working with me.

I also had a whole vacation week, which sadly wasn’t very good, since I didn’t really do much beyond being at home and ocassionally going out. But of course my mom’s ex had to be there the entire week, too… ugh, why? Besides taking my sister to school, he doesn’t do a damn thing besides watching videos and lazing around all day, until he leaves right before my mom arrives. I was hoping I’d be alone during the daytime, but I guess that’s too much to ask. And I wish my mom would get a bit more strict with him, it’s clear he’s just taking advantage of her kindness at this point.

Speaking of my mom though, she’s been thinking of changing jobs in the future. She’s been working at the same pharmacy for the last 20 years, and she wants to spend more time with her kids. And I can understand that, but I’m not sure if she’s really looking into the right places. She’s been looking into this thing called dropshipping, which she apparently discovered through social media. But I am concerned as to whether or not it’s a scam or something similar. I even asked her if she was sure about it, and she went “yes, and I hate it when you question me like that”. So… yeah, all I can really do is wait and see what she ends up doing, but I am worried that they’re trying to scam her.

Generally, I felt rather weird this month and I bet the changing seasons have something to do with it, as well. My mood was kind of all over the place, I haven’t been able to sleep very well, and everything felt a bit strange. People seem to be getting more irritating and aggressive, and I see a lot more accidents and shady things– and people can defend their garbage behavior. Oh, and the usual party people… y’know, the ones that keep singing “happy birthday” every Saturday? Well, I think I scared them last time. Around quarter past 12, I decided to go look at them from afar, to see where they were exactly. Once they noticed me, I left and went back home. Not long after that, there was an alarm going off outside, and they stopped for a while. I really wanna think I scared them for a bit… but they did stop partying earlier than usual.

This Month’s Pickups

I didn’t get too many things this time round, but I figured you guys might still find them interesting. Firstly, I finally got a battery for my BlackBerry Q10, and sure enough, it works just fine, though I did have to completely reflash the phone. I like the physical keyboard a lot more than I expected.

The aformentioned cat figure, alongside this car that I got as a work gift this year:

The usual toy cars, though I only got two this time.

Some vintage things, including an old glass of yogurt, an ink bottle and an eraser from a country that hasn’t existed in over 30 years.

This miniature soda bottle…

A Nokia 6670, which I used to fix the one I already had. The screen was all fucked up on that one, so after mixing and matching parts, I came up with this.

This Florida Man plushie…

And the biggest pickup of all… my very first Game Boy Advance. I’ve been wanting one since I was little, but only now I’m getting around to it. I’m planning to replace the shell, so I got some two of them from Japan (alongside a pouch), which should arrive sometime next month. Later in April I’ll be getting a new screen for it as well, since it lacks any kind of backlight, making it impossible to see in the dark. And I got a flashcard to go with it. Neither of these items were cheap, but I’m glad I got them after all.

Conclusion

So, that was March. What an uninteresting month as a whole, I don’t think I’ve ever had a month anywhere near as bland as this one… it’s so weird how everyone around me was able to continue doing things as usual, but here I am, barely doing much of anything. Maybe April will be more eventful, and hopefully not in a bad way. I also really need to get my shit together when it comes to my health, to make sure all is well with me. To finish this post, I’ll leave you all with some lovely cat pictures. Click on them to enlarge.

I am now back on Bluesky if anyone wants to follow me there, and I do want to make more blog posts during April. My next post should (hopefully) be about the PSP, so stay tuned for that. See you all in the next post.

  • Found your site through your April Fools prank! I love your kitties and that you learned English from the AVGN.

I’m glad things are okay for your, at least. It’s okay to not have too much chaos and just enjoy the stability. My favourite of your birthday knicknacks is probably the little black cat. Something in its expression just looks pathetic in the most endearing way!

I also appreciate you fixing up that old Blackberry! I’m not sure the physical keyboard is for me (my thumbs already struggle with a modern touch keyboard), but I’d like to hear a bit more about your experience with it.

    • Hey man, thank you for checking out my website. I was hoping this April Fools thing would get somebody’s attention and it looks like I succeeded lol. And yes, I know it sounds crazy that the nerd was part of the reason I was able to learn English all those years ago… alongside all of those foul words.
You’re right though, I guess having a boring month is better than being stressed all month long. March has never been great for me, so I can appreciate it being slower if it means being in a more stable position. I also loved the cat, I had actually gone out with my friend and she let me choose which figure I wanted. Besides the fact that I have a black cat, this little figure just spoke to me. There are a lot more of these, so maybe someday I’ll get myself some more.
It was my first time using a BlackBerry, and the layout is certainly a bit funky to me as someone who’s also used to virtual keyboards, the modifier keys are in weird places. If this was 2013, I could see myself daily driving this thing and getting used to it, but these days they’re barely usable. I guess I could use it for blogging if I’m not in the mood to turn on my computer.
